To mark the opening of A Time for New Dreams by Grace Wales Bonner, Ditto is releasing a new limited edition double volume of Everythings For Real and Everythings for Real II, zines which provide reference points for some of her
most notable collections. Published in collaboration with Ditto and featuring art direction by Jamie Reid, this special compendium features all new collages and a unique insert.
With a focus on African cultures and the politics of black history, Wales Bonner collages found imagery, ephemera, prose and poetry from various historic sources. These same themes reverberate in Wales Bonner’s Serpentine Galleries exhibition, granting new relevance to this improvisation
on cultural mirroring and disruption at the heart of her creative practice.
Grace Wales Bonner is a cultural polymath, who sees fashion as a means to explore ideas of identity and self-expression. She is recognised as one of the most innovative designers of her generation and part of a group
of burgeoning British fashion designers who are changing the ways in which we understand this discipline. Through the course of her research, she has developed a design process that involves a rich cross-pollination of sources,
bringing together literary, musical and visual references and the fruits of long-term collaborations with artists, writers and performers, who bridge multiple disciplines and genres. Each of her fashion collections is a meditation on cultural narratives, presented within a carefully considered scenography.
